The Interview

Is there a certain application/set of applications in KDE you are responsible for?

No.

What else do you do for KDE?

I'm one of KDE users. I check the Japanese support for other bugs, and report them. Sometimes I write a patch if I can.

How much time do you usually spend on KDE?

Hmm. About 20 hour/week.

When did you hear of KDE first?

After the of release KDE-1.1 TrollTech permitted Junji Takagi to distribute the Japanese patch for Qt-1.X Then the project, which translates KDE into Japanese, started.

How and when did you get involved in KDE?

I fell in love with Qt when I used it for the first time (Qt 1.0.2?) it was the only C++ class-based GUI toolkit.

Do you always use bleeding edge KDE? If so, how did it make you bleed?

Yes. I get the source from anonymous-cvs and compile it.

What is your favorite KDE application?

Konqueror, KMail, Klipper.

What is missing badly in KDE?

A theme creator.

Which section of KDE is underrated and could get more publicity?

I think the i18n for multibyte language is underrated. There are some problems in Qt. But sometimes KDE underrates multibyte language development.

Are you being paid to work on KDE?

No. Development of KDE is one of my hobbies.

Same-game.

What's the app you most want to write?

I wrote a renju game for KDE 1.X. I want to port it to KDE3

What was your first computer?

SHARP MZ-2000 Japanese computer. Z80/4MHz, 64KB RAM, graphics RAM is option(48KB)! no FDD, it has a tape driver.
